In a recent interview, while the Black Eyed Peas were in Malaysia for a concert, Fergie metioned her passion for Maylasian curries. Check part of the interview:

How do the members of BEP get into the right frame of mind before taking to the stage?

“We like to have a good time on stage. Usually, we just go into each other’s room and joke around to get the mood going,” was her answer.

BEP’s Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo are no strangers to Malaysia. Apart from the group's debut concert in Kuala Lumpur in May, 2004, BEP were soon back in the capital a year later for the Force of Nature concert to help raise awareness and funds for tsunami victims in this region.

The ash blonde beauty remembers that trip fondly and she is looking forward to her next visit. She is eager to have some real Malaysian curry again: “Curry is actually one of my top five favourite foods,” she reveals.

“I love Malaysian curry because there are a lot of different flavours from the coconut milk used and it’s very good. It’s not good for my diet but it’s good for my taste buds,” she says good-naturedly.

One would never have guessed from her pleasing figure. What’s her secret to staying in shape?

“The (stage) shows are very difficult so that helps a lot,” she offers. Indeed, BEP’s performances are full of energy. They really go all out to keep their audiences entertained with their songs, dance moves and freestyle rap.

“Other times, I try to work out. Some days are better than others. It depends on what week it is and what our travel plans are. But, the shows really help because they are two hours long.”

Like most people, there are days when Fergie finds herself motivated enough to head over to the gym and there are days she finds that the workouts are nothing more than a chore. She lets slip: “Some days I have to drag myself to the gym!”

Nevertheless, she does enjoy working out outdoors when she gets the chance, she says. “I love hiking and being one with nature. I love going out and seeing the world. The only thing for me that’s hard is when I get recognised. I can’t really enjoy myself because I won’t be left alone to actually see things.

“Everyone just wants to take pictures. You know, of course, I don’t mind because I wanted this my entire life but sometimes I just want to be a normal person and a normal tourist.”

Not surprisingly, Fergie, the only woman in the hip hop group, gets recognised wherever she goes due to the massive success of BEP and her own chart-topping body of work.

She joined the hip hop group right before they recorded the album that placed BEP on the music map, Elephunk, which was released in 2003. [...]

So far, their last two albums, Elephunk and Monkey Business have shifted over 7.5 million albums and 12.4 million copies respectively.

BEP’s fourth album, Monkey Business (2005), saw all four of them collaborating both musically and lyrically. According to Fergie, the next album will see more of the same team effort.

“When we do our next album, it’ll definitely be a huge collaboration, but I don’t know when that will be though. It won’t be for a while.”
